Join the Indian Army as an Agniveer
1.Check Basic Eligibility Criteria
✓Age
17½ years to 21 years (upper age limit as per current recruitment cycles).
✓Nationality
Must be an Indian citizen. Some recruitment notices also allow Nepalese citizens (as per official notifications) — check the latest announcement.
✓ Education
Eligibility differs by Agniveer trade:
Indian Defence Institute +1
Agniveer General Duty (GD): Class 10th pass with minimum marks (often ~45% aggregate and 33% in each subject).
Agniveer Technical: Class 12th pass in science (Physics, Chemistry, Maths & English) with specific minimum scores (~50%).
Agniveer Clerk / Store Keeper Technical: Class 12th pass (all streams) with higher percentage requirements.
Agniveer Tradesman: 8th or 10th pass depending on the trade.
✓Physical & Medical Standards
Must meet physical fitness standards (height, weight, running, push-ups etc.) and clear a medical examination as per Army norms.

4. Selection Process
The Agniveer selection usually includes the following stages:
1) Common Entrance Exam (CEE)
Objective written test covering general knowledge, reasoning, basic science and maths.
2) Physical Fitness Test (PFT) & Physical Measurement
Includes timed runs and other fitness tasks (running, push-ups etc.).
Height, chest, and weight measurements are checked.
3) Medical Examination
Final medical check to ensure fitness for service.
Candidates must clear every stage to qualify for final selection.
6. After Selection
Once selected:
You undergo basic military training at an Army training centre (~6 months).
After training, you serve in your assigned duty for the remaining years of the 4-year term.
On completion of the term, you are eligible for various benefits, certification, and possible absorption into regular forces or support for civilian careers under government policy.
